Round 1 V Pakenham kicks off with a great start for the Gulls!

After an awesome pre-season, it was great see our teams hit the court for Round 1 and kick off our 2018 season with a bang!
Congratulations to all those who played their first game in the green and red, we’re thrilled to have you part of our club.
Tooradin headed to Pakenham for our first round and came away with some great results to start the season on the right path, with all senior teams winning on the day.
While we didn’t get any wins in our junior games, our young Gulls all put in a fantastic effort and there were some very promising signs across all teams. With many new faces and new combinations in the juniors, we look forward to seeing the teams improve, grow and thrive throughout the year.
D Grade got their season off to a great start with the biggest win of the day and it was great to see Melissa Miszkowiec make her return to the court after doing her knee a couple of seasons ago.
In a rare moment for the club, we also had mother and daughter duo Sarah Holloway and Mairead Holloway given the opportunity to step out on the court together for the D Grade game which was lovely to see.
C Grade also got a good win with four new players in that team coming up from under 17s last year, so it was wonderful to see some of our young guns join the senior ranks.
B Grade, who were a little depleted with a few players out due to injuries and being away, battled it out in a tight game with Pakenham and managed to come away with the win in a close finish.
There was some great netball on display as the A Grade teams took to the court, with our girls securing their first win as they look to continue their success from last year.
Thanks to Pakenham for welcoming us in what was a great Round 1 and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
Thanks to everyone – committee, helpers, players, parents and sponsors – who helped get us to the first round as there’s always lots to be done behind the scenes in the lead up to the season.
Our first social event for the year will be on our bye on Saturday 28 April, where we’ll being heading to the Mornington Peninsula for a winery and brewery tour. We’d love to see as many of you there as possible, so jump on the Facebook event and buy your tickets now!
